Crack Filling, Crack sealing, and when . . . Generally speaking, cracks with limited edge deterioration should be sealed while cracks with moderate to no edge deterioration should be filled. Crack filling can be done year-round, though it is best performed under cool to moderately cool temperatures (when cracks are most open and more material can be applied.) Crack sealing is ideally done when temperatures are moderately cool such as the spring and fall. Neglecting to fill or seal cracks on asphalt or concrete surfaces can lead to alligator scaling and then potholes. With proper and timely crack filling and sealing, the life span of asphalt or concrete surfaces can easily be extended. RoadWeld is a cold asphalt crack sealer or filler for joints, gaps, cracks or voids. CreteWeld is a crack sealer or filler for concrete surfaces. RoadWeld is available in black for asphalt surfaces and CreteWeld is a light gray for concrete surfaces. Both RoadWeld and CreteWeld become a flexible sealer that expands and contracts with the surrounding surface, thus keeping the crack sealed and water tight. RoadWeld and CreteWeld are ideal for hard-to-seal joints and cracks on roads, patios, driveways and sidewalks. Be sure to repair all cracks before applying a seal coat to your asphalt or concrete surface. RoadWeld and CreteWeld are premixed and are available in pints, 5 gallon pails and 54 gallon drums. Both RoadWeld and CreteWeld are tacky in 30 minutes and dry within 1.5 hours. If the area must be used immediately by foot or vehicular traffic, sprinkle a little sand over the repairs to avoid tracking by shoes or tires.
